Sniper I (LE)
Course Description
This three day course will provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship, mechanics of the weapon system, scope systems, ballistics, positional shooting and range estimation. Other areas of instruction include policy and equipment recommendations, the data book. At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to set up their weapon system, zero the weapon, determine distance to targets and successfully engage those targets. Students will be required to pass the FBI’s Sniper qualification course to graduate.
Required Equipment
- Sniper weapon system with sling (bolt action or semi-auto, 308 is recommended)
- Quality scope (mil-dot reticule pattern recommended)
- Bipod (recommended, but not required)
- Data Book
- Weapon cleaning kit (one piece rod, brass jag, powder solvent, copper solvent, bore guide, patches)
- 250 rounds of match grade ammunition
- Swat/sniper operational gear (duty belt w/ pistol, etc.)
- Ear and eye protection
- Binoculars / Spotting Scope
- Back pack, drag bag or equipment bag
- Calculator
- Range clothing appropriate for season
Recommended Equipment
- Hydration system/ water bottle (plenty of water for each day)
- Sunscreen, insect repellant, gloves, lunch (we will not break for lunch you will eat on the range)
